In 2019, Jay embarked on his martial arts journey at Phoenix Training Centre, spurred by his son's involvement in training.
For Jay, a non-negotiable principle had always been that his children should learn a practical martial art encompassing self-defence, self-discipline, and confidence. Witnessing the effectiveness of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jay recognized that this martial art was the ideal choice for his kids.
After initially observing his son from the sidelines, Jay finally decided to begin his own Jiu-Jitsu adventure—a dream he had cherished for three decades. Since that momentous decision, he hasn't looked back.
Jay generously volunteered to assist with the kids' class, initially serving as a training partner and gradually shouldering more responsibilities, including helping coach the young students.
Jiu-Jitsu has become an integral part of Jay's family life, with his youngest family member eagerly awaiting the opportunity to begin training as well.
Jay currently holds a Blue Belt in Jiu-Jitsu and is actively pursuing his goal of achieving a Purple Belt. While Jiu-Jitsu remains his true passion, he also dedicates time to training in the Phoenix Combatives class and the Kali Combatives class.
